Getting Started
To register as a blood donor, click the "Register" button, select "Donor" as your role, fill in your personal details including blood group, and complete the verification process. You must be 18-65 years old and meet basic health requirements.
You need to provide your full name, email, phone number, blood group, date of birth, complete address, and emergency contact information. All information helps us connect you with nearby recipients.

Account verification is done through email confirmation and phone number verification. For enhanced credibility, you can also upload documents like ID proof or blood donor card.
Blood Donation
Anyone aged 18-65 years, weighing at least 45kg, and in good health can donate blood. You should not have donated blood in the last 90 days and should not have any infections or chronic illnesses.
You can donate whole blood every 90 days (3 months). This gap ensures your body fully recovers and maintains healthy blood levels between donations.
Get adequate sleep, eat a healthy meal 2-3 hours before donation, drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol for 24 hours, and bring a valid ID. Avoid heavy exercise on donation day.
Yes, blood donation is completely safe when done at authorized centers. Sterile, single-use equipment is used, and trained medical professionals oversee the process.
The process includes registration, medical check-up, actual donation (8-10 minutes), and rest period. The entire process takes about 45-60 minutes.
Understanding Blood
Blood is the fluid circulating through your body, delivering oxygen and nutrients and carrying waste away. It makes up roughly one twelfth of body weight — about 5 to 6 litres in an average adult. A donation takes 350 to 450 ml, under a tenth of that.
Plasma, a pale yellow fluid that is about 90% water, carries three kinds of cells: red cells, which carry oxygen; white cells, which fight infection; and platelets, which make blood clot so bleeding stops.
Haemoglobin is the protein in red cells that carries oxygen. A healthy man usually has 14–16 g/dL and a woman 12–14 g/dL. Blood banks check it before every donation and require at least 12.5 g/dL, so that donating does not leave you anaemic. The test is free and takes a moment.
Two systems are used together. ABO grouping gives A, B, AB or O. Rh grouping makes you positive or negative — named after the Rhesus monkey, in which the factor was first found. Combined, that gives the eight common types, from O negative to AB positive.
Group A blood carries antibodies against B, and group B carries antibodies against A. Give one to the other and the antibodies attack the transfused cells, which is dangerous and can be fatal. In practice patients receive their own group; O negative is used as an emergency stand-in only until the patient’s type is known.
If an Rh negative mother carries an Rh positive baby, her immune system can produce antibodies against the baby’s blood. The first pregnancy is usually unaffected, but later ones can be, causing a serious condition called erythroblastosis foetalis. It is prevented with an anti-D injection given within 72 hours of delivery. Discuss this with your doctor, not with a website.
Blood is collected into a sterile bag already containing an anticoagulant that stops it clotting. That bag — usually 350 or 450 ml of blood, depending on the donor’s weight, plus the anticoagulant — is one unit.
Red cells keep around 42 days refrigerated. Platelets keep only 5 days. Frozen plasma keeps up to a year. Because platelets expire so fast, platelet donors are often needed at very short notice.
Yes, and usually it is. One unit is separated into red cells, plasma, platelets and cryoprecipitate, so a single donation can treat up to three patients. Most patients need one component rather than whole blood: an anaemic patient needs red cells, a burns patient needs plasma, a haemophilia patient needs specific clotting factors.
No. It has been attempted for centuries and never worked. Human blood can come only from human donors, which is the entire reason donation matters.
Transfusion
People who have lost blood in an accident or surgery; women with complications in childbirth or miscarriage; patients with thalassaemia, sickle cell disease, haemophilia, leukaemia or aplastic anaemia, who may need transfusions for life; and patients with severe burns, poisoning or shock. An open-heart operation alone typically uses around 6 units.
Yes. Every unit is screened for HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, syphilis and malaria before it can be issued to a patient. Blood that fails any screen is discarded.
It is a medical emergency. The recipient’s immune system attacks the transfused cells, causing chills, breathlessness, pain, a fall in blood pressure and kidney damage, and it can be fatal. This is why cross-matching is done before every transfusion, and why it is never rushed.
A professional donor sells blood. This is illegal in India, and such blood carries a far higher risk of transmitting infection. A replacement donor is a relative or friend who donates to replace what a patient used. A voluntary donor gives freely, for someone they will never meet — the safest supply, and the one this platform exists to build.
Finding Blood
Use our search feature to find donors by blood group and location. You can also post a blood request that will notify matching donors in your area via SMS and email.
Response time varies by location and blood group. Common blood groups in urban areas typically get responses within 1-2 hours. Rare blood groups may take longer.
Try expanding your search radius, consider compatible blood groups, contact nearby blood banks, or post an emergency request so matching donors are alerted directly.
Once logged in, you can view donor contact information and send messages through our platform. Always be respectful and provide clear information about your requirement.
Account Management
Go to your dashboard, click "Edit Profile", update the necessary information, and save changes. Keep your contact information and availability status current.
Click "Forgot Password" on the login page, enter your email address, and follow the instructions sent to your email to reset your password.
